Description Philipp Richter 2011-03-02 23:20:41 UTC
I upgraded to sys-devel/gcc-4.6.0_alpha20110219 and emerged system+world with it. Only compilation errors I got were with sys-apps/diffutils, sys-libs/glibc, app-arch/arj, sys-apps/net-tools, media-gfx/exiv2 but after an update of these packages compilation went fine (sys-apps/diffutils-3.0, sys-libs/glibc-2.13-r1, app-arch/arj-3.10.22-r3, sys-apps/net-tools-1.60_p20100815160931, media-gfx/exiv2-0.21-r1 compile with no issues with gcc-4.6.0).
Once it was xulrunner's turn the compilation failed with a couple of trivial errors.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Get the latest gcc-4.6.0 alpha (I have the sys-devel/gcc-4.6.0_alpha20110219)
2.Emerge system+world with it (optional maybe?)
3.Emerge net-libs/xulrunner-1.9.2.13 or newer.

Actual Results:
net-libs/xulrunner-1.9.2.13 fails with an 'uninitialized const' and other.

Expected Results:
net-libs/xulrunner should have compiled and installed without issues. But it didn't.

This post: http://lists.fedoraproject.org/pipermail/devel/2011-February/148523.html
was very helpful in determining the cause quickly.
I just added default constructors to the classes gcc complained about and included <cstddef> in one file. GCC-4.6.0 seems to be stricter about those.
With the patch the package emerged fine.

The original ebuild with just the patch line added.

I added a single line for the patch to be used.

When 4.6.0 is officially released we will worry about this.
