That's actually:
- well known
- affecting probably just x86
- fixed by pic useflag

Perhaps FEATURES=stricter should enable USE=pic for this package then? Or maybe even USE=pic should be USE=+pic to avoid the QA notice in the default case (since QA notices are shown irrespective of FEATURES=stricter) ?

Further searching has revealed bug 301013 & bug 240352. Maybe this could be marked as a duplicate of bug 240352 since it seems that no-one cares about QA issues...

Actually, there is much care about QA issues here, it's just that usually on x86 pic is a trade off for speed.

FEATURES=stricter is usually discouraged for everyday use.
