Can you do a bisect between 2.6.37 and 2.6.37.1 ?
I can confirm that vanilla 2.6.37.1 fails, so it's not a change between 2.6.37.1 and 2.6.37.2. I'll look at bisecting between 2.6.37 and 2.6.37.1. http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/v2.6/ChangeLog-2.6.37.1 lists several NFS fixes, one of which I guess is causing this.
Found this on Sunday, but got caught by the Bugzilla upgrade. The changeset is: http://git.kernel.org/?p=linux/kernel/git/stable/linux-2.6.37.y.git;a=commit;h=6650239a4b01077e80d5a4468562756d77afaa59 commit 55ea499d60aefa3d03a77fc8590c26b5881faa92 Author: Trond Myklebust <Trond.Myklebust@netapp.com> Date: Sat Jan 8 17:45:38 2011 -0500 NFS: Don't use vm_map_ram() in readdir added early in the 2.6.37.1 development cycle. Reverting this from the tip of the 2.6.37.y git tree fixes the bug.
The issue is fixed with 2.6.38. I'm using it from git at the moment but I pulled it around the time of the release, so gentoo-sources-2.6.38 should presumably be fine too. From discussion on LKML, it was fixed in 2.6.38 but hasn't yet been backported to 2.6.37.
(In reply to comment #4) > The issue is fixed with 2.6.38. Thanks for reporting that
Can you post the url of those discussions on lkml, please?
(In reply to comment #6) > Can you post the url of those discussions on lkml, please? https://lkml.org/lkml/2011/3/10/355 The fix seems to have been commited into 2.6.37.4 : https://lkml.org/lkml/2011/3/10/561
Can you confirm by testing gentoo-sources-2.6.37-r4?
(In reply to comment #8) > Can you confirm by testing gentoo-sources-2.6.37-r4? If you talk to me, I can not reproduce the original bug with gentoo-sources-2.6.37-r1, so I can't tell you if -r4 is fixed. You should see bug #361575, which is probably a duplicate.
Please reopen if this is still an issue in >=gentoo-sources-2.6.37-r4
