Better to document how to properly set up disk labels rather that having hundreds or thousands of new users (over time) be force to convert a live system from mounts to disk labels. Expected Results: Beautiful, well written <optional> section on disk label usage. Leave the mount point example but provide an optional section in the Handbook on proper use of disk labels and fstab example.

That's rather stretched, isn't it. Given Gentoo's unique startup scripts, I'd say that unless we switch to another implementation of baselayout again, we're pretty safe. That said, it surely is a good idea to document labels.
Like I said, if someone comes up with a patch, please reopen for our consideration. Until then, there's no need to include this info, as I stated in my original email. Marking as something to do LATER, if people still have interest and the desire to write up some plain text for the docs team to XMLify.
