Comment 3 Paweł Hajdan, Jr. (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2011-02-04 12:17:08 UTC
Is it a regression? If so, what is the latest version that works?

How are you setting the environment variable?
Comment 4 lucapost 2011-02-04 12:29:56 UTC
I have zsh, when I run
#> http_proxy="proxy:8080" chromium
no results.

No problem with:
#> chromium --proxy-server="proxy:8080"
Comment 5 Paweł Hajdan, Jr. (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2011-02-04 12:33:59 UTC
What if you tell the shell to export the variable? I'm not sure how to do that in zsh.

If in doubt, you can try in bash:

export http_proxy="..."
chromium
Comment 6 lucapost 2011-02-04 12:36:22 UTC
in zsh, like in bash,
#> echo $http_proxy

is correct
Comment 7 Mike Gilbert gentoo-dev 2011-02-05 17:51:11 UTC
Seems to work for me on the dev channel (10.0.648.18). I ran the following:

http_proxy="202.96.159.210:8080" chromium &
netstat -n | grep 202.96.159.21

The IP is just some random open proxy I found.

I'm also running KDE4.4 with no proxy configured.
Comment 8 Mike Gilbert gentoo-dev 2011-02-05 18:39:11 UTC
Works for me in 8.0.553.237 as well.
Comment 9 Paweł Hajdan, Jr. (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2011-02-22 13:44:22 UTC
I can't reproduce either. If you have some more data that can point to possible problems, feel free to reopen.
