Please stabilize.

Reasons for skipping full 30 days (9 days since I added 1.0.1 to the tree):
- Upstream has removed the distfile for the previous stable version.
- Previous stable version does not always work correctly on present stable kernel 2.6.36.x
- LDFLAG compile fixes for as-needed

Target keywords: amd64 ppc x86
