Description Brant Gurganus 2010-11-29 18:18:05 UTC
Boost says all its tests should pass, but several fail on my system. I'm a bit out of my league though in interpreting the tests to determine if they reveal issues or misconfigurations or what.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Compile boost with FEATURES="test"
Actual Results:
Tests fail. See attached.

Expected Results:
Tests pass.

Comment 2 Jeroen Roovers (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2010-11-29 19:09:14 UTC
Actually, the src_test() output explicitly states that "upstream says that [failing tests are] normal".
Comment 3 Brant Gurganus 2010-11-29 20:06:50 UTC
Upstream documentation indicates otherwise indicating that all tests pass before a release is made.

"All of the tests above must run successfully, on multiple platforms and under multiple compile-time configurations, before each release of SQLite."

from http://www.sqlite.org/testing.html

The tests being run are only a subset of those mentioned.

A source distribution is going to inherently expose more variations for "multiple platforms" and "multiple compile-time configurations".
Comment 4 Łukasz Michalik 2010-11-29 21:19:17 UTC
But boost != sqlite. As boost requires lots from the compiler some tests are bound to fail on a given configuration. See http://www.boost.org/development/testing.html
Comment 5 Brant Gurganus 2010-11-29 21:32:23 UTC
Haha, woops. I had this confused with another bug I had filed. Sorry about that.

Anyway, my ebuild does say "but they will not fail (unless something weird happens ;-)"

That seems to be the wrong message if things differ as much as the upstream reports indicate because things will fail. That's definitely not "but they will not fail." So perhaps the issue is more in the wording of that message than necessarily in boost.

As already pointed out, test failures are expected.
The message says that src_test does not report an error under normal circumstances. I think the message is good enough. Closing as WONTFIX.
