Installing nvidia-drivers-173.14.27 solves this issue It can be found here: ftp://download.nvidia.com/XFree86/Linux-x86/173.14.28/ (x86) ftp://download.nvidia.com/XFree86/Linux-x86_64/173.14.28/ (x86_64) It would be nice if the ebuild go into the portage tree so everybody with this cards can update to the 2.6.36 kernel without pain. In Addition: The 96.43.19 driver is already in the tree, which fixed the same problem only for a older series of cards. Thanks for attention! Reproducible: Always
Any news? Or why it should be outside from portage? A "in work" would be very nice or mayby a "noticed". :-)
What is the problem?
I did the following and it worked. mkdir -p /usr/portage/local/x11-drivers/nvidia-drivers cp -R /usr/portage/x11-drivers/nvidia-drivers/* /usr/portage/local/x11-drivers/nvindia-drivers/ cd /usr/portage/local/x11-drivers/nvidia-drivers cp nvidia-drivers-173.14.27.ebuild nvidia-drivers-173.14.28.ebuild delete all ebuilds exept 173.14.28 ebuild nvidia-drivers-173.14.28.ebuild manifest emerge =x11-drivers/nvidia-drivers-173.14.28 This assumes that you have: PORTDIR_OVERLAY=/usr/portage/local in tour make.conf
(In reply to comment #3) I forgot to mention that if you wish to use xorg 1.9 edit the ebuild to remove the dependency: <x11-base/xorg-server-1.8.99
Created attachment 256481 [details] nvidia-drivers-173.14.28.ebuild Here is the ebuild.
