googleearth crashes with:
rose@thinkpad:/home/rose(1)$ googleearth 
Google Earth has caught signal 11.



We apologize for the inconvenience, but Google Earth has crashed.
 This is a bug in the program, and should never happen under normal
 circumstances. A bug report and debugging data have been written
 to this text file:

    /home_thinkpad/rose/.googleearth/crashlogs/crashlog-4ce7e28b.txt

Please include this file if you submit a bug report to Google.

I found a workaround that at least works for me:

change in $HOME/.config/Google/GoogleEarthPlus.conf

enableTips=true

to

enableTips=false

If I set 

enableTips=false

I can start googleearth. But if I click later at a link in the map, it crashes again.

Your new crash logs are the same as in bug #455124, we're using that bug to resolve this issue; a temporary fix is:

> eselect fontconfig disable 65-fonts-persian.conf
