I noticed this message today: !!! The following installed packages are masked: - app-portage/flagedit-0.0.8 (masked by: package.mask) /usr/portage/profiles/package.mask: # Torsten Veller <tove@gentoo.org> (11 Nov 2010) # Masked for removal. Unmaintained with bugs # (#162753,#196552,#225071,#297650,#300104,#326099) # app-portage/flaggie can be used as an alternative. However, none of the bugs mentioned are about flagedit. I also did a search and couldn't find any single bug reported against flagedit. I don't see any reason for removal. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce:
Furthermore, the recommended alternative (flaggie) is keyword masked.
flagedit depends on dev-util/libconf. If libconf is masked, flagedit must be masked too. No maintainer + no upstream + bugs then removal is a valid option. (In reply to comment #1) > Furthermore, the recommended alternative (flaggie) is keyword masked. You can keyword it without flagedit or flaggie.
(In reply to comment #2) > flagedit depends on dev-util/libconf. > If libconf is masked, flagedit must be masked too. Oh, I didn't realize it was because of that. The message didn't mention libconf. Well, I guess it makes sense then. > You can keyword it without flagedit or flaggie. I know, I just meant that I was expecting the alternative to be marked stable.
