I've set up an rsync mirror at slugsite.louisville.edu (136.165.47.200) - using the crontab line 0/30 * * * ftp rsync -rlptDvz --delete rsync://rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage /home/ftp/gentoo/rsync >/dev/null 2>&1 Any information you need about it can be found by querying the rsync daemon's MOTD, or you can reach me if you need further information. I'm getting an error when trying to get a file: # rsync -avz 136.165.47.200::gentoo-portage/metadata/timestamp.chk . Welcome to slugsite.louisville.edu (136.165.47.200)! ... snip ... To contact the maintainer, please e-mail <greg.leffler@louisville.edu>. @ERROR: chroot failed rsync: connection unexpectedly closed (772 bytes read so far) rsync error: error in rsync protocol data stream (code 12) at io.c(165)
Forgot to mention we are close to filling the .us rotation, so we may not be able to add the mirror. Once its working, I'll try and add it to see if there is room.
Got a bit overzealous with the security changes I made last time. It's working now.
Sorry for the delay. Rsync doesn't seem to be responding on that IP now. # rsync -avz 136.165.47.200:: rsync: failed to connect to 136.165.47.200: Connection refused rsync error: error in socket IO (code 10) at clientserver.c(83)
Still no rsync response from the IP or slugsite.louisville.edu address. Let me know if the server becomes available again. Thanks.
