Description Priit Laes (IRC: plaes) 2010-10-14 12:25:33 UTC
dev-python/sphinx-1.0.4 USE="latex -doc -test" with all dependencies installed.

It seems that dev-python with USE="latex" should also depend on app-text/dvipng, because when I ran `make html` on some documentation, I got following warning:
[snip]
WARNING: dvipng command 'dvipng' cannot be run (needed for math display), check the pngmath_dvipng setting

This is correct, just checked it out. The math extension requires latex/dvipng.
Comment 2 Dirkjan Ochtman (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2010-10-14 20:44:20 UTC
So I guess we should do a use flag for this?

One for "math" could be in place, but that would imply that other extensions also gets their own use flag. At least the one's having external dependencies? The other extension I could find (in the main distribution) was graphviz – perhaps we should add that while at it?
Comment 4 Dirkjan Ochtman (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2010-10-27 13:17:00 UTC
Yeah, I think adding useflags for dependencies in bundled extensions would be nice. Can you come up with a patch/ebuild?

Would it make sense to add it under USE="latex" umbrella or does USE="png" make sense?

This seems to have been fixed back in May. From `dev-python/sphinx/ChangeLog`:

This bug should probably be closed, unless people are waiting until something >= 1.1.3-r2 is stabilized.
