Bug 338440 – net-print/cups-1.4.4-r2[usb]: assumes print completed successfully though nothing sent

I have Okipage 14ex printer, running pxlmono driver from foomatic. With <cups-1.4 and >=cups-1.4[-usb] it works fine. With >=cups-1.4[usb], the printer is detected correctly, however I am unable to get it working.

The usblp module is blacklisted, and it certainly not loaded. CUPS says the printer is available (and idle) even if it is disconnected. When attemping to print anything, CUPS immediately considers the job completed successfully, and the usb_backend doesn't report any error.
