wxGTK-2.6 is going to be removed from the tree soon. Could you stabilize 1.4.0 and drop the older version please?

Bug 327867 needs to be fixed before this goes stable (most likely together).

I've run into some other building errors with crystalspace, still looking into them.

Created a new bug (bug 342807) to bump to a compatible dev-games/cel.
Comment 5 Sven Eden 2010-11-03 11:55:18 UTC
(In reply to comment #3)

I get the exact same build log with both swig-1.3.40-r1 and swig-2.0.1, when building "./out/linux/optimize/plugins/cscript/csjava/csjava.cpp" :
------------------
swig: Modules/lang.cxx:337: Language::Language(): Assertion `!this_' failed.
------------------

But crystalspace-1.4.0 builds successfully when done with USE="-java".
Comment 6 Sven Eden 2010-11-03 12:00:07 UTC
Another issue:

The ebuild reports the following:

================================
 * Examples coming with this package, need correct light calculation
 * Do the following commands, with the root account, to fix that:
 * cslight -video=null /usr/share/crystalspace-1.4.0/data/maps/castle
 * cslight -video=null /usr/share/crystalspace-1.4.0/data/maps/flarge
 * cslight -video=null /usr/share/crystalspace-1.4.0/data/maps/isomap
 * cslight -video=null /usr/share/crystalspace-1.4.0/data/maps/parallaxtest
 * cslight -video=null /usr/share/crystalspace-1.4.0/data/maps/partsys
 * cslight -video=null /usr/share/crystalspace-1.4.0/data/maps/r3dtest
 * cslight -video=null /usr/share/crystalspace-1.4.0/data/maps/stenciltest
 * cslight -video=null /usr/share/crystalspace-1.4.0/data/maps/terrain
 * cslight -video=null /usr/share/crystalspace-1.4.0/data/maps/terrainf
================================

But the maps are located in /usr/share/crystalspace-1.4/data/maps/
Comment 7 Sven Eden 2010-11-09 22:07:04 UTC
And the content of the file /etc/env.d/90crystalspace is wrong, it uses the full version on both library and config path, but those are present with the version 1.4 instead of 1.4.0.

ebuild with corrected paths in /etc/env.d/90crystalspace and elog

This ebuild uses the correct path information for the /etc/env.d/ entry and the elog messages at the end of the build.
Comment 9 Mr. Bones. (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2010-11-10 16:42:09 UTC
slightly modified patch applied to portage.
Comment 10 Jeremy Murphy 2010-12-03 00:07:49 UTC
I'm keen to see this stabilized, but shouldn't we also add and stabilize dev-games/cel-1.4.0? cel-1.2.1 depends specifically on crystalspace-1.2.1, so we can't just drop it like suggested.

See bug 342807. Someone needs to get that in shape.
Comment 12 Jeremy Murphy 2010-12-03 23:47:44 UTC
Ah yes, sorry, I should have noticed that.

> Build.log of a failing build

The build failure happens at this line:
swig -java -c++ -java -package org.crystalspace3d ...

Starting with swig 1.3.40, if you specify the target language more than once, it errors out. For example:

$ swig -java -java
swig: Modules/lang.cxx:330: Language::Language(): Assertion `!this_' failed.
Aborted

I don't know if this was intended or is a bug in swig, but it's fixable: we need to remove the extra '-java'. I am not familiar with the build system here (jam), but I'll poke around and report back

(In reply to comment #13)

In fact you could resolve this:
  swig: Modules/lang.cxx:337: Language::Language(): Assertion `!this_' failed.
by removing the "-java" arg in the plugins/cscript/csjava/Jamfile on line 73.
The csjava.cpp is then correctly generated.

 games team, should be enough to fix this issue...
Comment 16 Thomas Kahle (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2011-07-20 13:26:02 UTC
I've dropped dev-games/crystalspace to ~x86. That should allow wxGTK-2.6 removal.

Which broke the deps mentioned in comment #10

dev-games/cel/cel-1.2.1.ebuild: x86(default/linux/x86/10.0/desktop) ['~dev-games/crystalspace-1.2.1']

Hmm, sorry about that. Why would repoman let me do that?
Mr_bones dropped cel to ~x86 yesterday. Please add me to cc next time, then I would have fixed this earlier. I can't monitor all x86@g.o bugspam.
Comment 19 Thomas Kahle (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2011-08-22 13:42:09 UTC
Stable tree is in shape again. x86 drops out again. Closing.
