I believe this is simular to 331111 but not identical due the older version of amanda and the assertion is in another component, although I did initially add details to that bug I feel this should be logged as a seperate bug, to avoid creating more confusion. With all commands I have tried I get the same result i.e. amtape daily current ** ERROR:util.c:721:amanda_thread_init: assertion failed: (!g_thread_supported()) Aborted I did a large world update this may have included glib-2-24.1-r1 although I am not sure. This is exactly the same bug. If required, I can make a patch, but honestly I'd rather not support such an old version.
First I am really sorry this is a duplicate. I normally go with the currect stable version. emerge --ask --update \=amanda-2.6.1_p2 These are the packages that would be merged, in order: Calculating dependencies... done! !!! All ebuilds that could satisfy "=app-backup/amanda-2.6.1_p2" have been masked. !!! One of the following masked packages is required to complete your request: - app-backup/amanda-2.6.1_p2 (masked by: ~x86 keyword) For more information, see the MASKED PACKAGES section in the emerge man page or refer to the Gentoo Handbook. I will go to the unstable version got to be better than broken at least I can use your patch if needed. Again my appologise for the mix up.
That was really directed at the Gentoo devs - they need to update the ebuilds to a more recent version. I don't expect they'll be any more likely to stable a 2.6.0_p3 with a patch in it than they are to stable 2.6.1, 3.1.0, 3.1.1, or 3.1.2. If I'm wrong, I'll take the time to make a 2.6.0 patch.
(In reply to comment #3) > That was really directed at the Gentoo devs - they need to update the ebuilds > to a more recent version. I don't expect they'll be any more likely to stable > a 2.6.0_p3 with a patch in it than they are to stable 2.6.1, 3.1.0, 3.1.1, or > 3.1.2. ACK ... I am only some kind of a proxy-dev ... no power in my hands ;-)
Thank you for all you help Dustin, I have move to the unstable version and applied your patch to that. I have to agree with you on the moving forwards on the versions, and it is a shame my dev skills don't extend to the unix world. I have marked this as a duplicate, as that is the way to fix it anyway and it might help the the efforts to move versions forward. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 331111 ***
