Description crusaderky 2003-11-14 03:59:46 UTC
I have elfutils-0.84 installed. Today I've done emerge sync && emerge -upvD world and I was prompted to install a new package, libelf. However, libelf conflicts with elfutils; if i unmerge elfutils and then do emerge -upvD world again I'm asked to install both.

Comment 2 SpanKY gentoo-dev 2003-11-14 08:04:17 UTC
this is because of ntp ...
however, portage shouldnt be pulling in both packages
Comment 3 Marius Mauch (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-11-14 08:49:13 UTC
In that case it's a dupe (-r17 should fix it but isn't out yet)

Just as a quick note, people not on AMD64 can remove the ~AMD64 keyword from the
ntp ebuild and then not have this problem... however since the problem is semi-
cosmetic (only likely to come up on emerge -uDp world) and this odd solution
would be replaced by the next emerge sync, it's probably best to wait for that
