preserve_old_lib or preserve_old_lib_notify in eutils.eclass should probably save a list of preserved libraries somewhere, so that people can see which old libraries have been preserved, even if not immediately running revdep-rebuild and deleting the library. If saving a list of libraries somewhere, then perhaps revdep-rebuild could have an option to check the list of preserved libraries, or could consider links to preserved libraries to be broken when checking dependencies. An option to delete the preserved libraries after rebuilding dependencies might also be useful.
