please test 2.8. I have no intention of fixing 2.6 given it's broken build system while 2.8 was more or less moved to autotools.

Compiling 2.8.6 with:
LDFLAGS="${LDFLAGS}-Wl,--hash-style=gnu" emerge -1av abiword

shows not QA warning at all, then, this looks solved (but feel free to reopen if not, of course)
