Never had problems with that. Arches testers please proceed carefully. If you are looking for runtime tests, there are douzens of sci package which use tcl/tk.
Comment 2 Andreas Schürch gentoo-dev 2010-09-28 13:14:45 UTC
The current stable dev-tcltk/tclxml-3.0-r1 fails with it:

>>> Source compiled.
>>> Test phase [test]: dev-tcltk/tclxml-3.0-r1

all good for me on amd64.

i found a QA Notice:

 * QA Notice: Package has poor programming practices which may compile
 * fine but exhibit random runtime failures.
 * /tmp/portage/dev-lang/tk-8.5.8-r1/work/tk8.5.8/unix/../generic/tkBind.c:3385: warning: dereferencing pointer ‘event.165’ does break strict-aliasing rules
 * /tmp/portage/dev-lang/tk-8.5.8-r1/work/tk8.5.8/unix/../generic/tkBind.c:3816: warning: dereferencing pointer ‘vePtr’ does break strict-aliasing rules
 * /tmp/portage/dev-lang/tk-8.5.8-r1/work/tk8.5.8/unix/../generic/tkText.c:3403: warning: dereferencing pointer ‘event.186’ does break strict-aliasing rules
 * /tmp/portage/dev-lang/tk-8.5.8-r1/work/tk8.5.8/unix/../generic/tkText.c:5179: warning: dereferencing pointer ‘event.269’ does break strict-aliasing rules

is a error known/repairable?

I should open a bug about it?

Comment 11 Kacper Kowalik (Xarthisius) (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2011-01-13 20:11:21 UTC
=dev-lang/tcl-8.5.8-r1, =dev-lang/tk-8.5.8-r1 stable on ppc64
=dev-tcltk/tls-1.6-r2 stable on ppc, only ~ppc64 since it wasn't keyworded previously
