Description Robert Moss (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-11-10 09:42:48 UTC
There are certain programs (openoffice-bin-1.1.0 being a primary example) which
depend specifically on db-3.1, and things break if these binaries are installed
without their dependencies present.

Attached is an ebuild for db-3.1.17, which IMHO should return to portage in
order to satisfy binary package dependencies relating to libdb-3.1.so.

If anyone can tell me whether or not this package can be given a different slot
to db-3.2, it would be very much appreciated - if it is possible, I will update
the ebuild as necessary.

There are some patches, commented out in this ebuild, which I am not sure of the
relevance to db-3.1. If anyone knows whether or not they are in fact relevant,
or better still can backport the patch, please say so!

Also any testing on other architectures would be much appreciated.

Reproducible: Always

Closing this, as the relevant packages, it transpires, supply their own db-3.1 and the problem is with revdep-rebuild.
