kernel 2.6.35, currently in ~amd64 uses a dynamic buffer which will then prevent dhcpd for working as reported in : http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-p-6374908.html?sid=2cc6270a6adc953674482c7fe0603559 problem is resolved in the 5.2.7 version of dhcpd which is not yet in ~amd64 and therefore the request for the version bump (eventhough it hasn't been out for that long). just renaming the current ebuild to 5.2.7 worked for me Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. install 2.6.35 gentoo kernel (~amd64) 2. reboot 3. can't get a working dhcpcd connection Actual Results: system won't be able to start the e1000e interface using dhcp, even if it was detected correctly Expected Results: system should be able to start interfaces at boot like it did with previous kernels as a workaround the following works (sometimes) # ifconfig eth0 up # dhcpcd eth0 but will result in dropped connections sometime later
already in the tree. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 331087 ***
