PPMd is an attempt at a PPM based compressor, which is rather well behaved- usually produces a smaller file then what bzip2 produces, sometimes by a decent gap, sometimes by a few k. Very well behaved, usually uses a max of 10mb of memory, even for large datasets (the openoffice 1.0.2, 560+mb tarball is a good example. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: n/a

The ebuild needs some work. Please read: http://emu.gentoo.org/~liquidx/ebuildmistakes.html and submit it again. Thanks.
Created attachment 20484 [details] updated ppmd-9.1.ebuild Specific complaint w/ the ebuild? Yes, no homepage, mainly since in my googling in the last few weeks I haven't come across a specific home of this project. The closest there is to a home page, is a debian qa page at http://http.us.debian.org/debian/pool/main/p/ppmd/ Problem is that that is not really a homepage... meanwhile, I've added a definition for homepage, setting it to nothing. Only other issue I found that was slightly out of line w/ the suggested standards, was the src_uri, which has been adjusted. Depends has been updated to be explicit about the need for gzip, and patch. tabs, trailing spaces, slot, description, iuse, depend (?), S is defined once (not redefined) all covered... repoman also signs off on it. What is missing/needed/incorrect?
Created attachment 20496 [details] updated, v2 ppmd-9.1.ebuild Taking it further in terms of using ${PN} and ${PV} and using an explicit patch version variable to make it easier to update, should another version be released.
added to portage.
