Can I get a log for 0.151, maybe with binutils 2.21?
Created attachment 264029 [details] Buidlog with binutils-2.20.1-r1 Here's a log with the currently stable bintuils. Log with 2.21 as soon as those are finished compiling.
dev-libs/elfutils-0.149 fails in the same way (tested with binutils-2.21).
Can someone on alpha follow up on the mailing list thread?
(In reply to Ryan Hill from comment #4) i don't think we need to. upstream understands the exact problem (the main alpha maintainer was posting to the list). i think it "just" needs someone to actually implement the ideas posted.
Currently, these versions in the tree pass/fail (first column) the test suite: | | u | | a a p s a n r | n | | l m h i p p m r m i i s | e u s | r | p d a p a p c a x i m 6 o s 3 | a s l | e | h 6 r p 6 p 6 r 8 p 6 8 s c 9 s | p e o | p | a 4 m a 4 c 4 c 6 s 4 k 2 v 0 h | i d t | o ---------+---------------------------------+-------+------- F 0.163 | + + + + + + + + + ~ + + o o + + | 4 o 0 | gentoo F 0.164 | ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ o o ~ ~ | 4 # | gentoo P 0.165 | ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ o o ~ ~ | 5 # | gentoo P 0.166 | ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ o o ~ ~ | 5 o | gentoo So I propose we send something to stable and clean up the old versions, specifically get 0.166 stable and if that goes smoothly, drop at least 0.164 and 0.165. 0.163 I'd keep around a bit longer in case there is trouble with 0.166. Thoughts?
(In reply to Tobias Klausmann from comment #6) we rarely have a reason to *not* stabilize a newer elfutils, just laziness in not keeping track. filed bug 585476 to get 0.166 stabilized.
-0.166 is now stable on alpha, closing.
