Description Kurt Lieber (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-11-01 07:39:15 UTC
please add RESTRICT="nomirror" to these ebuilds. Because of space constraints on our distfile mirrors, we don't generally mirror source tarballs for commercial (i.e. non-GPL) programs greater than 250MB

*  games-fps/unreal-tournament
      Size of downloaded files: 9,071 kB

*  games-fps/unreal-tournament-bonuspacks
      Size of downloaded files: 35,337 kB

*  games-fps/unreal-tournament-goty
      Size of downloaded files: 9,184 kB

*  games-fps/unreal-tournament-infiltration
      Size of downloaded files: 233,857 kB

*  games-fps/unreal-tournament-strikeforce
      Size of downloaded files: 428,539 kB

the mods are what violate the 250meg limit but they are 'free' ... no they
arent GPL-ed, but who GPL-s a mod ?
Comment 2 Kurt Lieber (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-11-02 04:55:25 UTC
It's an imperfect solution, I agree. However, those files also take up a
disproportionate amount of our mirror space and make it difficult to release
other things like experimental livecds, etc. Outside of files for commercial
games, we have no files in our tree that are over 180MB.

We can leave them for now, but if/when our mirror admins start complaining
again about the amount of mirror space we're taking up, we'll look to remove
them at that point.
Comment 3 SpanKY gentoo-dev 2003-11-03 13:05:28 UTC
so you consider all modifications (even if they are free) to a base package
that is commericial as commericial themselves ?
