I can confirm that Apache 2.2.15 +itk has been working fine for me ever since my initial install, so not sure what's happening there. However, I do receive "[Fri Jul 24 21:56:06 2009] [error] (9)Bad file descriptor: apr_socket_accept: (client socket)" in the error_log when performing graceful restarts (/etc/init.d/apache reload), and I believe this is because of itk.
/etc/init.d/apache2, that is.
itk mpm is not officially supported. please report to the itk developers
