Description Dave Arnold 2010-06-07 20:35:18 UTC
ifuse fails to mount an iphone/ipod

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.emerge -av ifuse
2.ifuse /mnt/iphone -s
3.

Actual Results:
No device found, is it connected?
If it is make sure that your user has permissions to access the raw usb device.
If you're still having issues try unplugging the device and reconnecting it.

usbmuxd not started no /etc/init.d/usbmuxd
I request that the following be inserted into the usbmuxd package as
/etc/init.d/usbmuxd

#!/sbin/runscript

depend() {
        need localmount
}

start() {

        ebegin "Starting usbmuxd"
        start-stop-daemon --start --quiet --exec /usr/sbin/usbmuxd
        eend ${?}
}

stop() {
        ebegin "Stopping gpm"
        start-stop-daemon --stop --quiet --pidfile /var/run/usbmuxd.pid
        eend ${?}
}
Comment 1 Michael Weber (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2010-06-07 22:39:57 UTC
Hello Dave,

your original `when unmerging usbmuxd there is no /etc/init.d/usbmuxd file` sound confusing. According to your report i'll change that to `app-pda/usbmuxd: missing inid.script`.

Can you please provide the `emerge --info` and the version of app-pda/ifuse and app-pda/usbmuxd you currently use?

thanks, Michael

Comment 3 Łukasz Sowiński 2010-06-09 13:58:45 UTC
I am sorry, is this bug entry VALID?
'usbmuxd' is launched directly by hal, not by init.d scripts.

On the other hand, the ifuse mounting issue may be caused by bug 323329.
Comment 4 Dave Arnold 2010-06-09 15:41:03 UTC
Sorry, I can confirm that this is a duplicate of bug #323119.
Comment 5 Dave Arnold 2010-06-09 15:42:04 UTC
Ops, I meant bug 323329
Comment 6 Tony Vroon (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2010-06-09 15:51:53 UTC
As per the bug comments, I am closing this report. Thank you for your responses.
