When trying to emerge sci-geosciences/googleearth-5.1.3535.3218 the installation crashing with multiple "tar: Cannot change ownership to uid 71934, gid 5635: Invalid argument". 


Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. emerge =sci-geosciences/googleearth-5.1.3535.3218


Actual Results:  
The installation breaks with mentioned above errors.  

Expected Results:  
Successful installation

As this is quite a wierd problem I will add that my /var/tmp/portage is part of root on reiserfs file system. I will submit full build.log. I don't have problems with untaring anything else.

Does it work if you use FEATURES="-sandbox -userpriv" emerge googleearth ?
If yes, can you see which feature breaks it?

I'm afraid I'm having same result, disabling other features didn't help either.

Looks the same as bug 244772. Try contacting the reporter if he managed to fix it?

Changed the unpacking to use built-in portage unpack (which should pass --no-same-owner to tar). Please update in a few hours and see if it helped.
Still wonder why it occurs only to you. Maybe because you actually have user/group with uid 71934, gid 5635 on your system, while others not?

Seems that did the job. GoogleEarth installed successfully today. I don't have uid 71934 and gid 5635. The only thing that comes to my mind why I had this issue is some kind of wierd fs issue. Not many people are using resier this days. Thanks for changes you made.
