Currently virtualbox-ose fails to build due to a configure time contraint on gcc's version. A quick googling suggests that it may build and function just fine. I found a patch in another bug tracker:

Revised ebuild is available in 'jasiu' overlay. Shouldn't I rename it to 'newer'?

This is already fixed (the same way) in upstream trunk: http://www.virtualbox.org/changeset/28395.

This bug should block #296658.

Any chance we can have this patch apply to 3.1.8 since there is no telling when the next version of virtualbox will be released?
