ipac-ng that is in the tree fails to build/work with recent iptables (bug 191582, bug 255086 and bug 307813), suffers from parallel make issue (bug 240744). New version (1.33) crashs on start as reported by many people in upstream mailing lists and elsewhere (bug 310981). I've mailed upstream today too. If nothing changes this package will be removed from the tree on 09.06.2010.
New version was released. Probably good idea to keep this package in the tree: ipac-ng 1.34 released. Changes in this version: - ported to iptables 1.4.9.1, works with iptables 1.4.3 - 1.4.9.1, and maybe later; - removed a lot of unused code from iptables.c ; - removed xtables.c, libiptc.c, libip4tc.c and corresponding header files, but instead added dependency on iptables libraries: libxtables.so and libiptc.so; - added option to configure script: "--with-iptables-src=" which allows to compile fetchipac statically with iptables source code (as it was in previous versions, see BUILD-with-iptables-source file for more information); - added ipacsumdaily/monthly perl scripts to contrib directory; - updated documentation.
I only see ipac-ng-1.31-r2 in Portage. Was 1.34 made available but subsequently removed?

Willard, afaik it was not bumped and if nobody takes this package it'll go from the tree. Currently we have not maintainer for this package so if you wish to maintain this package I can be proxy-maintainer for you.
Well, I've tried ipac-ng-1.34 and it does not even build with newest kernel headers. I've dropped this package from the tree.
