Description JoWilly 2003-10-18 05:39:39 UTC
Hi,

I've successfully installed the usb HP psc 2410 Multifunction printer/scanner/fax.

hpoj, cups and hotplug are starting at boot, and if the printer is connected at that time it works great.

But if the printer is not connected at boot (/etc/init.d/hpoj: ptal-init shows error device not found) and switched on later it is not working. To get it to work I have to manually stop cups and hpoj and restart hpoj before cups.

I don't always switch the printer on at boot, and it is not convenient to su into root to restart the hpoj and cups init scripts to get it to work afterwards.

What can I do to get this fixed ?

Thanks.

that the printer has to be connected is a limitation of hpoj, nothing we
can do there, but normaly it should be enough to restart hpoj, cups should
be restarted automatically then

Well..., if I don't stop cups and start hpoj before restarting cups it won't
work.

yeah, but this should happen automatically, so i marked it as dup of 29231,
in which a rewrite of the init depend thing is planed.
