Description satorare 2010-04-03 11:25:06 UTC
Yesterday audacious2 worked perfectly fine.
Today, when launching the program, several times, it gives to me a different skin each time, don't know why, haven't asked it, and sometimes it doesnt display the main window. (You know, audacious window is in 3 parts: equalizer, playlist, and main, without the main you can't do nothing except killall and rerun :p)
Its behavior seems completely random!
Sometimes, (by chance?) it looks fine, sometimes not.

I checked the config file, but don't know how to deal with it.

Got a new error at launching:

alsa-gapless: snd_device_name_hint failed: Argument invalide.

But, still don't know why, the last times I ran audacious, the error desappeared, but the erratic behavior went on, of course :-p

The best of it: The 3 very last times, it did:

nico@tux ~ $ audacious2
Erreur de segmentation

It seems it's completely dead now.

I never saw (until now) anything behaving like that on linux ^_^ (on windows, this is an everyday experience xD)

PS: I didn't update audacious recently. I just re-emerge it, but it didn't resolve the problem.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open audacious (or audacious2, it's the same program)

Actual Results:
1 hour ago:
Sometimes displays random skin, but plays music very well ;
sometimes display some parts but not everything.

Now:
Segfaults.

Expected Results:
Should work fine, play music, display the skin I choosed, and the 3 parts.

Comment 2 Jens Grasnick 2010-04-09 10:44:10 UTC
Same here, scince 2.2 audacious is completly unusable. It helps to wipe ~/.cache/audacious and ~/.config/audacious but that sucks.
Comment 3 Tony Vroon (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2010-04-18 16:55:06 UTC
Tell me how 2.3 performs on your system please; new 2.2 releases will not occur. Perhaps an early stable is in order.
Comment 4 Tony Vroon (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2010-09-01 13:15:23 UTC
I shall assume that this was fixed in 2.3; 2.4.0 is now in portage.
