Description philipplewe 2010-04-02 19:36:56 UTC
After upgrading from media-libs/fontconfig-2.6.0-r2 to media-libs/fontconfig-2.8.0 the (default) sans-serif and monospace fonts in KDE looked very ugly.

Emerging virtual/ttf-fonts fixed the problem.

On other Gentoo systems virtual/ttf-fonts is getting pulled in by other ebuilds (e.g. media-video/mplayer-1.0_rc4_p20091026-r1) but on my system there is no ebuild installed with a dependency on virtual/ttf-fonts.

Any useful KDE component should depend on virtual/ttf-fonts, so it will be pulled in automatically.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
equery d virtual/ttf-fonts

err... probably there are other ways to get nice fonts too...
