Looking at the build.log, this version seems to take $CC twice (maybe once from env and once self detected or similar?), but of course fails, because x86_64-pc-linux-gnu-x86_64-pc-linux-gnu-gcc does not exist. it seems like i found the problem with it, it seems to use something like $CROSS_COMPILE$(tc-getCC) for the compiler call, which fails, since i have CROSS_COMPILE set to x86_64-pc-linux-gnu- to be able to crosscompile busybox
i'm assuming you mean build busybox outside of the ebuild. it should respect $CHOST just fine for setting up cross-compiling info.
(In reply to comment #3) > i'm assuming you mean build busybox outside of the ebuild. it should respect > $CHOST just fine for setting up cross-compiling info. > No, i build busybox with the ebuild and multilib-portage, see just opened blocking bug 311589
openssl-1.0.0e-r1 scrubs CROSS_COMPILE from the env
