Description Sebastian Fohler 2010-03-22 03:25:45 UTC
This is the error I got:

end_request: I/O error, dev cciss/c0d0, sector 0

every time I increase the I/O load on the harddrive. I'm sure it must have something to do with the xen-patches or at least the patches which are not in the gentoo-sources too, cause the gentoo-sources kernel does not have such problems at all. I've found a similar problem here:

http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-bugs/2009-12/msg02025.html
and a supposed solution patch here:

http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-bugs/2009-12/msg04024.html
but I tried to patch the xen-sources with this patch it did not help at all.
I'm not sure if I'm at the right location to report this bug, if not please tell me where I have to report it then.

Workaround appears to be booting with mem=4G kernel parameter.
Please post emerge --info output.
Comment 2 Sebastian Fohler 2010-03-26 19:26:55 UTC
the mem=4G option doesn't seem to help. Should it be at the xen.gz line or in the module kernel... line? Right now I appended it to the kernel line.

Here is the emerge --info output:

xen1 ~ # emerge --info
