I believe httpclient-4.0 has been out for a while now. The new version would be nice. Note: some features have been removed from httpclient (well - multipart method) and are included in a seperate pacakge httpmime an extention of mime4j - so these would be required in portage as well.
I've been trying to write some ebuilds for this and it's dependencies but a major hurdle appears to be mime4j (http://james.apache.org/mime4j/) which is built using maven. Any tips?

Any tips? `mvn ant:ant` produces maven-build.xml which can be used as build.xml.
No. commons-httpclient latest version is 3.1, which we already have packaged in the tree. http://mvnrepository.com/artifact/commons-httpclient/commons-httpclient Don't be mistaken with httpcomponents-client also developed by the ASF. Latest version available in Portage is 4.3.1.
