Description Tony Vroon (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2010-03-16 14:17:27 UTC
(Users, please note that this is a stabilisation bug and that discussions/pings for other reports do not belong here.)

The 4.2.11 versions are the "previous stable" on the Shorewall homepage by now (with 4.4.7 being the new stable release). Both the shell and the perl varieties are supported in this branch so no functionality regressions are expected for users.
These ebuilds have been in the tree since October 2009 with no significant bugs reported against them. Once this is out of the way, development work can start in earnest for the 4.4 branch so it can be unmasked.

Arches, please test and consider for stable:
=net-firewall/shorewall-common-4.2.11
=net-firewall/shorewall-lite-4.2.11
=net-firewall/shorewall-perl-4.2.11.1
=net-firewall/shorewall-shell-4.2.11

Please avoid limiting your choices to perl or shell to give our users the maximum flexibility in upgrading. In order to test this package, you will need to configure your kernel netfilter as follows:
http://www.shorewall.net/4.2/kernel.htm#v2.6.20

When testing on a remote host, please configure "routestopped" before touching any other configuration file. To confirm, my intention is to maintain this package and I am your primary contact for keywording/testing.

Will now be handled as a security bug.
