Thanks for the version bump notice. Assigning to maintainer
Comment 2 Elias Probst 2010-03-24 10:33:24 UTC
Please make sure this patch is included in the 0.7.7 ebuild:
http://libvirt.org/git/?p=libvirt.git;a=commit;h=6d5c8a8f51db8ce97ab35ab6022dd5c94ab016b4
Otherwise USB device passthrough will not work.

Upstream bugreport: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=574136

Comment 3 Elias Probst 2010-03-26 16:33:58 UTC
I've created an updated ebuild including the patch which fixes the USB device passthrough issue:
http://gitorious.org/gentoo-overlay-eliasp/gentoo-overlay-eliasp/trees/master/app-emulation/libvirt

ChangeLog:
  26 Mar 2010; Elias Probst <mail@eliasprobst.eu> +libvirt-0.7.7.ebuild,
  +files/libvirt-0.7.7-fix-usb-passthrough.patch,
  -libvirt-0.7.6-r1.ebuild,
  -files/libvirt-0.7.6-virt-pki-validate-sysconfdir.patch:
Version bump (0.7.6-r1 → 0.7.7). Fix for upstream bug #574136.
Comment 4 Elias Probst 2010-03-27 13:53:18 UTC
I'm running now libvirt-0.7.7 on 2 of my production servers and it works fine so far.
Maybe someone could take a look at the ebuild which I've provided and submit it to the tree if everything is fine with it.

Please add libvirt-0.7.7 to portage.
I need it because I've been bitten by the incompatible disk-naming
on host-side and guest-side. This bug is fixed in release 0.7.7.
This is the error message I get (a lot of them!):

ad infinitum...

Closing this out out for the libvirt-0.8.0 ticket. I've been gone for a while and unfortunately it appears that others didn't pick up maintenance.
