Description Q 2003-10-11 18:15:02 UTC
I have tried two times today to install gentoo on two seperate systems, but
every time I try I get an error message saying:

Code:
copy /var/tmp/portage/baselayout-1.8.6.10-r1/image/dev/.keep -> /dev/.keep
!!! (errono 13) Permission denied. '/dev/.keep#new'

This happens near the end of the bootstrap process(always at the same
point). It seems the permission on these files have been incorrectly set by the
developers.

Regards,

GJ

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.begin a stage 1 install
2.Unpack tarball and run boostrapping script.
3.Bootstrap nearly gets to the end but fails on copying these files due to
incorrect permissions. I don't know how to change permions on the CL...
Athough I think this is probably a developer bug anyway, as all I did was
follow the install guide.

Actual Results:
Bootstrap fails near the end.

Expected Results:
It should have completed normally as it always has in the past.

Athlon XP 2600+
512MB Ram
420GB HDD
Two DVD-R drives.
Via KT400A chipset

No exotic hardware combinations. All fairy conventional.

Moving these so we can remove the "Install CD" component from "Gentoo Linux".

I apologize to everyone for this spam, but according to the bugzilla developers,
this is the only reasonable way to do this.
