Description Antti-Veikko Rosti 2003-10-11 15:31:40 UTC
I've installed Gentoo Linux 1.4 from stage 1 to my laptop. Everything went fine until I tried emerging gnome-2.4. Installing gst-plugins-0.6.3 fails with the following output

>>> Install gst-plugins-0.6.3 into /var/tmp/portage/gst-plugins-0.6.3/image/ category media-libs
 * No such plugin directory

!!! ERROR: media-libs/gst-plugins-0.6.3 failed.
!!! Function gst-plugins_find_plugin_dir, Line 69, Exitcode 0
!!! (no error message)

My settings are

I don't seem to be the only one with this problem

I am also having this same problem:

>>> Install gst-plugins-0.6.3 into /var/tmp/portage/gst-plugins-0.6.3/images/
category media-libs * No such plugin directory

seems like a script error... I haven't been able to find a way around it,
I get it when I do "emerge gnome"... makes my installation unusable as a
desktop pc.
Comment 2 Matthew Westcott 2003-10-11 19:10:14 UTC
This appears to have been fixed now, as reported in the aforementioned forum
thread - I'm happy to confirm that a fresh 'emerge sync' has fixed it for
me.

yes the one in the tree was broken for a short while, little miscalculation
on my side.
