Description Fab 2010-03-10 11:48:13 UTC
Just noticed today after a world upgrade that =games-strategy/hedgewars-0.9.11
does not run anymore on two stable x86 systems. It run into a malloc assertion
failure :

> $ LANG=C hedgewars
> hedgewars: malloc.c:3074: sYSMALLOc: Assertion `(old_top == (((mbinptr)
> (((char *) &((av)->bins[((1) - 1) * 2])) - __builtin_offsetof (struct
> malloc_chunk, fd)))) && old_size == 0) || ((unsigned long) (old_size)
> >= (unsigned long)((((__builtin_offsetof (struct malloc_chunk,
> fd_nextsize))+((2 * (sizeof(size_t))) - 1)) & ~((2 * (sizeof(size_t)))
> - 1))) && ((old_top)->size & 0x1) && ((unsigned long)old_end &
> pagemask) == 0)' failed.
> Abandon

I don't know if it's related, but I know that QT4 was updated recently on
both systems. I tried to rebuild hedgewars and all SDL stuff, it changed
nothing. Upgrading to hedgewars-0.9.12 seems to solve the problem. Thanks.

Reproducible: Always

Hmmmm, works fine for me on stable x86.

Can I see the output from emerge -evp hedgewars please?

Comment 3 Mr. Bones. (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2010-03-16 07:28:42 UTC
Looks pretty similar to mine. I have -nls -accessibility +mmx, etc. but none seem all that relevant.
Comment 4 Mr. Bones. (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2010-03-22 19:44:04 UTC
Same issue with 0.9.12?

No, as I said in bug report, 0.9.12 solve the problem : it runs fine with exactly the same configuration. Maybe this is a bug which was solved since 0.9.11, but I can't find any changelog which summarize commits since this version. Or maybe this is just the luck...
Comment 6 Mr. Bones. (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2010-03-23 16:08:10 UTC
oh right, sorry. I read that before but figured it was worth looking at anyhow.
Well, I can't reproduce it and .12 has other bug fixes so if that works for you, great. I'll go ahead and close this one as WONTFIX since I expect most people will just run with .12.

Thanks for trying stuff out for me.
Comment 7 Alexey 2010-04-21 15:24:08 UTC
You should open this bug, because 0.9.11 is still latest stable on x86.
