net-dialup/freeradius-2.1.7 has been in the tree for about 3 months now, and upstream released 2.1.8 back in December. The latest version marked "stable" in Portage is 2.0.5, which is far behind. Many features and bugfixes have been released since then, and http://freeradius.org/getting.html states that anything older than 2.1.8 "should not be used." Reproducible: Always
Also submitted bug 308449 for freeradius-2.1.8.
Maintainer timed out. Go ahead ppc/ppc64/sparc: First time for you, you may skip it if you want to
amd64 compiles but does not start. Any example with how to set/configure or is enough only compile?
amd64; differs in one significant respect to -2.0.5 on this system; use flag threads. emerged stable -2.0.5 with use flags ldap pam ssl udpfromto, all others unset. This version would not build with threads unset. May need addition to src_configure() in ebuild?? Currently no real ref to ensure it is set, unless a quirk in mine. As far as starting it, seems it needs some config files in place. I also don't know how to get it started. As Ago suggested, a sample set of config files to start it would help.
+1 for a not working USE="-threads". On x86 this time! :-)
We will skip this one and go for 2.1.8 in 30 days.
