I installed lots of packages to be able to install sci-astronomy/ds9-6.0 through portage, including sci-astronomy/ast-5.3.1. Many of them had to be unmasked by specifying the ~amd64 keyword. Now I find that whenever I do any operation in ds9, I get the following error output in the console: !! AST: Error at line 156 in file cbgrid.C. ! astGLine: No graphics facilities are available. ! Re-link using an option such as '-pgplot' with the ast_link script. ! astGrid(Plot): Graphics error in astGLine. Maybe related to this I also cannot load FITS files specified on the command line (ds9 starts but doesn't load them). Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install ds9 through portage 2. start it, e.g. using $ ds9 file1.fits file2.fits 3. move the mouse around in the (empty) ds9 window Actual Results: Error message appears repeatedly, files are not loaded. Expected Results: Files should be loaded, no error message should appear. The static binary Linux64 version from http://hea-www.harvard.edu/RD/ds9/ works without any problems.
