Comment 3 wbrana 2010-02-23 18:46:44 UTC
It seems Akonadi needs MySQL, which isn't installed on my PC.
Comment 4 Andreas K. Hüttel archtester gentoo-dev 2010-02-23 21:08:12 UTC
What's the output of "equery list sql" on your system?
Comment 5 wbrana 2010-02-24 12:20:24 UTC
There is empty output from that command. I already unmerged akonadi-server and all
applications, which depends on it.
Comment 6 BerS 2010-02-24 12:34:09 UTC
(In reply to comment #5)

may try to rebuild qt-sql and and then start "kres-migrator"?

it helped me to start akonadi-server.

Comment 7 Nikoli 2010-04-28 03:41:18 UTC
Confirm problem, but kmail and akonadi worked after upgrade some time for me. After latest plasma crash I can not start akonadi-server. I use sqlite driver.

KDE 4.4.2, akonadi 1.3.1.

same messages for any new user with empty home dir.
Comment 9 Etaoin Shrdlu 2010-06-28 09:54:24 UTC
After some struggle, I saw that on my system the problem was that akonadictl was using the command "sqlite" to initialize its database when starting akonadi. But "sqlite" runs sqlite 2, while the akonadi database needs sqlite 3. I worked around it by setting up things so that "sqlite" is a link to "sqlite3" when akonadi starts up, but it's a tremendous kludge.
Comment 10 Maciej Mrozowski gentoo-dev 2010-08-10 00:20:56 UTC
sqlite backend is functional starting with akonadi-1.4.0, earlier it wasn't much of a use.

i'll have to close it, sqlite support is fixed in very recent versions of akonadi-server as stated in comment 10 and we can't do much for the earlier versions. The only way to get it working in 4.4 is to use mysql
