That looks like you ran out of disk space (/tmp). But I am no expert....

Yeah looks like, although the place to look for is ${TMPDIR}
Comment 5 Stelian Ionescu 2010-02-23 16:39:04 UTC
It's stranger than that: there are ~18Gb free in $TMPDIR and 9Gb in /tmp, and if I retry the compilation as root it goes well.

Ah well, than that's just a problem with building OOo without root rights, yeah that might be tricky ;-)
Comment 7 satmd 2010-03-31 11:00:01 UTC
I run into this problem, too. Running make as root does continue where portage left off, but that's hardly a solution. Anyone attempting to fix this?
Comment 8 satmd 2010-03-31 11:55:09 UTC
Once again I attempted to get this working. This time I went as far as doing strace and really found ONE possible reason for failure: it seems that the combination of pam_mktemp and paludis resulted in the environment inheriting root's TEMPDIR/TMPDIR/TEMP/TMP variables and those are very restricted due to pam_mktemp.

A solution for paludis is to add "unset TMPDIR TEMPDIR TMP TEMP" to bashrc or to redefine them to something sane (suggestions welcome).

Since the original report included emerge --info of the original reporter, this problem might affect portage as well.

Can you people try and report back about the suggested workaround, please?

This for sure is consuming all the free space on the device so it can't create new ones, given the lo-3.4.2.2 has updated check-reqs checks that ensure you have enough free space and ram to build it i am closing this as fixed.
