i think that having bashcomp on eix as for options as for ebuilds' category/names would be a great thing (if it is possible ^^')

and many many compliments to eix's author.. that's a great app ;-)))

Reproducible: Didn't try

app-shells/zsh-completion has functions for eix completion.
I suggest that you use zsh instead of bash as an interactive shell ;)
At least, I will not spend time to write a completion function for a
shell which lacks too many interactive features anyway...

I would close the bug as WORKSFORME :) but if somebody else really wants to
waste his time he might take the bug. However, bash-only functions will not go
into eix upstream.

That's an aggressive stance. But it can still go into the Gentoo tree if someone cares to spend time on it. :)

You are right, I shouldn't have said this.
However, I really do not want to maintain things which I am not using
and which actually I consider a bad idea to use:
As an interactive shell, zsh is so much superior over bash that there
really is no point in using bash interactively.
However, if somebody really wants to spend his time and writes
bash-completion, I might also include it in the tarball, but I will
probably not maintain it (e.g. when new options are added to eix,
I will probably not update it myself [except perhaps in very simple cases]).

eix bash completion

I received the attached suggest completion file from Marcel Philipp Partap.

Although I am not happy about it since it provides only rudimentary
completion support, I will release it with next eix if nobody sends
me a better file...
