I would like to request that the openoffice-bin ebuild includes desktop
integration support as described in:
http://installation.openoffice.org/how_to_repackage_oo.html

As recompiling openoffice from source can be awkward I imagine more people are
interested in it without wanting to compile openoffice.

Just to clarify this .. you mean icons in the gnome and kde menu's ?

Yes, but also the file associations (those should come with it).

I made such an ebuild for evolvedOO as bug #4914:

I think that resolves this issue
