in reaction to: 23736, one quick fix is to use "env -i" in the /etc/init.d/apache2 file. Would be nice to have a config variable for this.

Fair enough.  I'll probably just add the suggested "fix" since I doubt anybody
is going to miss the trimmed environment.  Thanks.
