I have copied this ebuild to

games-sports/billiards-0.3

and this won't to compile

checking for techne... no
configure: error:
You need to have a working installation of Techne in order to install
Billiards.  You can get Techne at:

     http://savannah.nongnu.org/projects/techne/

Please add Techne package to Gentoo.

You should file a new bug about adding teche to portage and make this bug depend on it.

I still wonder if this program really works. I can open it, see the table window and can open the GUI on http://127.0.0.1:29176/ but I can't click to zoom around or make a shot. 

Had anyone success with that?

This is probably due to a bug that caused the simulator to hog the CPU not allowing any screen updates.  It happened on some setups only so it slipped my attention.  If this is in fact the case it should be fixed with the 0.4 version just released so if there's still interest you might want to try it out.  It should be available in a day or so from the project page.  Make sure that the tarball you download has a extra dir with the .desktop entry and icon.  If there are any problems and you need help you may contact me via email.
