Description Phil Stracchino (Unix Ronin) 2010-01-12 18:51:28 UTC
media-libs/freeglut will not compile if x11-libs/libX11 is not installed, but does not appear to list it as a dependency. As a result, if both are missing when 'emerge -vuD world' is invoked, it may try to install media-libs/freeglut before x11-libs/libX11, causing the emerge to fail.

Reproducible: Always
Comment 1 Rafał Mużyło 2010-01-12 21:22:24 UTC
'emerge --info' would be useful.
Though freeglut doesn't have such dep, mesa does,
so something smells fishy here anyway.

Apologies for the --info omission. Here it is:

Further note:
I realize under normal circumstances this build order would be very unlikely. I ran into it because I had a lot of breakage because a copy-and-paste error left me with ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~x86" in my /etc/make.conf and a non-working X installation, and it turned out when deleting all the unstable packages and reinstalling stable versions that freeglut got rebuilt before libX11 had been reinstalled.
