You might look if www-client/icecat could be used instead of www-client/mozilla-firefox (through some || () dependency)

Another possibility, installs fine but I don't know how to test if it really works as intended.

This now becomes even more urgent. Upstream officially discontinued seamonkey-1 and also wrote about known unfixed security vulnerabilities. See this news post for reference:

Gtk2-MozEmbed-0.08-r1 no longer depends on seamonkey.
